불행한 일이지만 현재진행형으로 "안녕하지 못합니다."란 상황들. 그 중의 하나가 철도 파업이다.
이른바 <노사정>이 팽팽하게 대립하고 있다. 종교계까지 인도주의적 입장을 지향한다는 인간 특유의 사유세계로
안녕할 수 없는 사태는 꼬여가기만 한다.
관심은 정치가 아니다. 정책도 아니고 누구의 잘/잘못 또는 옳다/그르다가 아니다.
'해암 뇌의학 연구소'의 목적은 뇌가 근거중심의 사실(evidence)은 하나임에도 해석은 저마다 달리한다는 점, 그러나 대개는 어떤 법주안에 있다. 그래서 다원화 세계에서 공존한다.
하지만 '망상,妄想'이라는 현상에 이르면 입장이 달라진다. 사회적 일상생활에서 소통이 불가능해짐으로 결국 정신과 의사의 도움을 받지 않으면 안되는 사태로 이어진다. 이른바 정신병자!
오해(misbeliefe)와는 달리 자신이 믿고 있는 것을 어떠한 사실적 근거를 제지해도 자신의 생각, 판단이 절대적이라 믿는 망상을 결코 논리적 제의로 변하지 않는 특징을 갖는다. 왜 그럴까?
현대사회에서 망상으로 도태되거나 때문에 선의의 피해자가 속출하고 있지만, 한편 그들의 인권을 강조하는 또 다른 주장에 따라 섯불리 간섭하거나 구금할수도 없는 것이 현실이다. 피해망상을 갖고 있는 경우 누군가 자기를 죽이려 한다고 믿을 때 조용히 있을 수 있는 사람은 없다. 이른바 정당방위를 내세워 망상 속의 가해자를 살해한다. 끔찍한 일이다. 한국사회의 노사정 갈등, 이념갈등, 세대갈등, 남녀갈등, 갈등이 망상을 근거로 지속된다면 파국은 불가피할 것이다.
대체 망상의 정체는 무엇일까?
마음(정신)이란 길을 통해 접근하려는 것이 대부분의 입장이다.
해암 뇌의학 연구소에선 이미 전제하고 있다. 마음은 뇌의 또 다른 이름이라 부릅니다. 요컨데 마음이 아니라
뇌에서 그 정체를 찾아가는 것이다. 이른바 해법, 측 치료의 길을 찾기에 이를 것이다.
뉴욕 대학교(New York University Langone Medical Center) 연구팀은 2009년 이런 사실을 밝혀냈다.
치매(Alzhiemer Disese)환자 중에 오른쪽 뇌가 손상 특히 전두엽에 문제가 있는 망상환자를 연구하고 있었다.
오른쪽 전두엽은 자신을 자각하고 현실적 근거를 중심으로 한 옳고 그름에 대한 판단을 할 수 있는 곳이다. 손상된
이 오른쪽 뇌가 기능을 하지 못하자 언어영역이 발달한 왼쪽 뇌가 과잉보상을 하기 시작했다는 점을 알아냈다.
가령 콩팥 어느 한쪽을 제거하지 않으면 안될 때 반대쪽 콩팥이 피에 노패물을 걸러 소변으로 배출하는 역할을 보상한다. 하나의 공팥으로 2개의 역할을 하는 것이다. 마찬가지로 윈쪽 뇌가 손상된 오른쪽 뇌를 과잉보상한 나머지
언어영역이 과잉활성되어 이야기를 꾸며내기 시작하는 것이다. 바로 소설을 쓰게 된다는 얘기, 곧 망상을 일으킨다는 것이다.
마음의 건강이 행복의 재장이라고 강조해 왔었다. 이제 해암 뇌의학 연구소에선 대신 뇌의 건강이 행복의 재산이 된다고 주장하는 이유다.
손상된 오른쪽 뇌를 복원하는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 과앙보상된 언어영역에 대한 억제 내지는 제어 방법을 찾아내는 것은 바로 치매 자체는 해결할 수 없지만 '망상사고'는 교정할 수 있는 가능성을 갖는다.
무척이나 많은 편집성(망상) 장애, 정신분열병 편집증(망상)에 대한 치료대책을 찾는 길이 있는 것이다.
오해는 누구나 할 수 있는 일상이다. 근거를 제시하면 "아차, 내가 실수를 했군!'하며 오해를 푼다. 망상의 경우는
"날 또 속이려고? 꼬시려고? 한다"고 더욱 믿지 못하면서 자신의 판단을 강화 상대방을 파괴하려 한다.
이런 사람들이 사회 각 분야의 이른바 리더/회장/정치가/종교계 지도자에게 팽대해 있다면 그 사회는 예사스런 일이 아닐 것이다.
뇌의 건강이 얼마나 중요한 것인가를 알아야 하는 대목이다.
이 길을 찾는 것은 어렵고 험란하다. 계속 이어지는 문제점을 통해 비밀의 열쇠를 찾아가기로 한다.
